Rambler, Yandex and Mail.ru do not trade user addresses

The <noindex>AntiSpam</noindex> Working Group under UNESCO’s Information For All programme has tested the "cleanliness" of the administrators of the mail servers Pochta.ru, Mail.Ru, Mail.Yandex.ru, Mail.Rambler.ru and Novaya Pochta. Mailboxes were set up in the course of the testing with deactivated antispam filtration, while sections enabling the gating of partner mailboxes were excluded from the user agreement.

The lack of spam in these mailboxes disproved the "conspiracy theory", according to which operatives of the mail services supply address databases to spammers. The only doubt was raised by the Mail.ru user agreement, which includes the section, "Mail.ru mail messages that contain organizational and technical information on Mail.ru are not deemed to be spam". The project working group has recommended that users direct more attention to forums and other sites, where their postal addresses may find themselves in open access, and to the fight with mail viruses.
